BNB Chain reported a significant uptick in user activity across its ecosystem, with centralized exchanges (CEX) leading at 2.1 million users in the past week, while gaming and infrastructure sectors also showed strong growth, according to a Nansen report cited by BNB Chain on April 16.
The blockchain platform highlighted the launch of Tutorial Island, a new Web3 metaverse game, as a key driver in its expanding gaming sector, which recorded 139,000 users over the same period.
The rise in BNB Chain’s gaming activity comes amid its broader push into Web3 gaming, a sector that has seen exponential growth on the platform. A 2024 report from the BNB Chain Blog noted that the number of gaming projects on BNB Chain, including its BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and opBNB networks, surged by 99.3% between 2021 and 2024, reaching 565 projects.
This growth has been fueled by the chain’s infrastructure, which supports decentralized applications (Dapps) and enables asset interoperability—a feature central to Tutorial Island, launched by Tutorial in partnership with iDosGamesEngine on April 14.
Tutorial Island, described as the “first metaverse game-field designed for seamless asset interoperability,” allows NFTs and digital assets to move freely between games, according to Tutorial’s announcement on X.
The game, built on BNB Chain, aims to create a “Roblox for Web3” experience, leveraging iDosGamesEngine’s Web3 game development SDK. Yerasyl Amanbek, a developer involved in the project, praised the engine’s potential, stating on X: “It can be the first working prototype of a metaverse with asset interoperability and true ownership.”

Industry reactions to the launch and BNB Chain’s growth have been largely positive. Nansen’s data showed DEXs with 348,000 users and infrastructure at 100,000 users, underscoring the ecosystem’s diversity. However, some analysts caution that interoperability in Web3 gaming remains challenging.
A 2022 Substack post by Web3games highlighted that while the concept of using a single NFT across multiple games is attractive, the lack of incentives for developers to integrate external assets poses a hurdle. Despite this, the Metaverse Standards Forum, as of December 2024, continues to push for standards to enable such interoperability, with working groups focused on 3D asset workflows.
