– This Year, MicroStrategy’s CFO Said Company Would Continue To Buy Bitcoin
Despite recent downturns, MicroStrategy Chief Financial Officer Phong Le said the company will continue to buy bitcoin. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Le said it’s unclear whether the company would acquire more bitcoin this year than it did last year, but it will keep buying. Warner Music Group (WMG) announced Thursday that it will enter the metaverse with The Sandbox, a music-themed theme park. WMG owns record labels Atlantic, Warner Records, Elektra, and Parlophone, among other notable music brands. Propy, a real-estate blockchain startup, has announced the launch of the first real estate-backed NFTs in the United States. As part of its ambitious goal to launch a real-estate NFT-ing service, the company will auction two residential properties in Florida on February 8th. Propy has been engaged in the crypto market since 2017, supporting blockchain-based real-estate acquisitions, but this is the first time it has tokenized a property as an NFT. According to Bruzz, a Brussels-based news outlet, Christophe De Beukelaer, a member of the Brussels-Capital Region parliament, has agreed to earn his pay in Bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency. The Belgian cryptocurrency trading platform Bit4You will automatically convert his monthly paycheck of 5,500 euros to Bitcoin. – As PoS Migration Progresses, The Ethereum Hashrate Rate Reaches New High
According to data from Glassnodes on Jan. 27, the hash rate for Ethereum has reached a new peak, nearing record levels of 1.11 PH/s. The previous all-time high was established on Jan. 13, when the price of ETH dropped from $4,460 to $3,160. When the hash rate increases, it means more nodes are entering the network and it is becoming more decentralized. The Securities and Exchange Commission has given BSTX, a joint venture between tZero and Boston Options Exchange (BOX) Digital Markets, permission to operate a blockchain-based securities exchange. Because of the blockchain transactions, BSTX is aiming for immediate or fast settlement (T+0 or T+1).
