– Algorand Joins Israel’s Top Research University To Boost Blockchain Education
To assist blockchain technology education, the Algorand Foundation has teamed with Israel’s foremost research institution, Bar Ilan (BIU). The foundation stated in a blog post that the agreement, which includes a grant for the 12th BIU Winter School on Cryptography, also intends to encourage more participation in the Algorand blockchain. – Moneygram Buys 4% Stake in Crypto ATM Operator Coinme
MoneyGram said it had purchased a roughly 4% ownership stake in Coinme, likely more than $764,000, given its valuation of $19.1 million in June as part of a strategic investment in the crypto company. This investment, however follows a May 2021 partnership between the two firms, aimed at expanding access to crypto-fiat exchanges. – Nasdaq-listed BTCS To Pay Shareholders’ Dividends in Bitcoin
The Nasdaq-listed Blockchain firm ( BTCS) will make its next dividend payment in bitcoin, a first for U.S. markets. According to a Wednesday filing with the (SEC). BTCS CEO Charles Allen said: “We want to reward our long-time shareholders for their continued support and encourage financial freedom by providing the means to enable direct ownership of Bitcoin and other digital assets,”. Samsung Electronics America has partnered with Decentraland, an Ethereum-based virtual reality platform, to enter the metaverse. In Decentraland, the electronics behemoth has erected a virtual counterpart of its flagship 837 real shop. The real store can be found at 837 Washington Street in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District. – WeChat, China’s Major Payment App Supports China’s Digital Yuan
WeChat, China’s most popular messaging app and one of the country’s most widely used payment platforms, will begin to accept the Chinese government’s digital currency. According to a local news article, Tencent announced on Jan. 6, 2021 that it will begin taking digital yuan payments through its own mobile wallet WeChat Pay. – Finance Minister says El Salvador Will Proceed With Issuance Of Bitcoin Bonds
El Salvador is nearing the completion of its Bitcoin bond issuance. The country’s finance minister announced today that the government would send Congress roughly 20 measures to begin the process. Then, on Twitter, President Nayib Bukele verified it. In a Tuesday interview with local media, El Salvador’s finance minister, Alejandro Zelaya, said the laws would give legal structure and legal certainty to everyone who buys the Bitcoin bond.
