Jamaica’s central bank has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a digital version of the country’s currency. Natalie Haynes, Committee Chair and Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, indicated in a recent interview that the future digital currency will help those Jamaicans who are financially excluded from the monetary system. According to crypto ATM tracker coinatmradar.com, there are approximately 36,659 Crypto Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) hosted in 76 different countries. During the past 12 months, an exponential number of crypto ATMs have been installed as data shows that 20,000 crypto ATMs were installed last year. According to a report in The Australian, On The Run (OTR), a large convenience store chain, will soon enable acceptance for payments in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies at all of its sites in South Australia. Customers will soon be able to pay for gas at one of the state’s 170 service stations, which include both rural and urban locations.
