On Thursday, a flat in Braga, Portugal, was sold for just 3 BTC in the first-ever bitcoin-only real estate transaction recorded in the country, with no conversions to euros. The sale of real estate for bitcoin has recently gained traction in several parts of the globe. Etherscan, a renowned block explorer and analytics tool for Ethereum reveals that the entire value of the staking contract for Ethereum 2.0 has now surpassed $33 billion, with over 12.4 million coins invested. While the staking number is at an all-time high, the staking contract’s value has plummeted due to Ethereum’s price correction. According to a poll done by the Bank for International Settlements, numerous central banks throughout the world are considering implementing a central bank digital currency, or CBDC. From October to December 2021, 90 percent of 81 central banks questioned were working on CBDCs in some way, with 26 percent conducting CBDC pilots and more than 60 percent doing tests or proofs-of-concept related to a digital currency. – New York Bitcoin Mining Restriction Bill Is Not Considered By The Environmental Committee
A bill that would have put a two-year embargo on certain types of proof-of-work (PoW) crypto mining enterprises in the state of New York was not considered by the New York Senate Environmental Conservation Committee. At its final meeting of the current legislative session, the committee decided not to take up the issue. Valkyrie, a crypto investment firm, announced on Wednesday the establishment of an Avalanche Trust (VAVAX) for traditional investors interested in the Avalanche ecosystem. The trust has already received $25 million in donations. According to its fact sheet, the Avalanche Trust allows daily redemptions for shares, as opposed to the Multi-Coin Trust’s monthly redemption schedule. Sony Electronics has teamed up with blockchain video distribution network Theta Labs to launch nonfungible tokens (NFTs) that can be watched in mixed reality via Sony’s Spatial Reality Display, a display that allows people to see things in 3D without the use of standard 3D glasses.
